Polar Plunge 2022

Returning to Decatur 2022… it’s the annual Polar Plunge! Support the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois by taking the plunge. This Year, plungers have two options to #BeBoldGetCold for Special Olympics:

Plunge in person: Saturday, March 5th at the Lake Decatur Beach House
Plunge your way: Get creative and find your own way to take the plunge now through March 18th 2022. Just be sure to capture on video!

It doesn’t matter how you Plunge, just that you plunge. Your fundraising efforts help support Special Olympic Athletes within The Region-I area. Your donation helps provide training sessions, sporting equipment, free sporting events for the athletes, hotel and food accommodations for travel and so much more!

School Challenges

As in grand Polar Plunge tradition; Special Olympics Illinois Region-I invites students and schools to #BeBoldGetCold for the athletes…participate in either the 2022 Cool School Challenge OR 2022 College Cup Challenge!

Cool School Challenge:

Earn a scholarship for your Elementary, Middle, or High School!

Open to students, teachers, and administrators in Elementary School, Middle School and High School, this challenge will provide a $500 scholarship to the Cool School Team that raises the most funds on their team and a $250 Scholarship to the 2nd place team in fundraising! Teams can plunge at any one of the four Region-I plunge sites.

College Cup Challenge:

Earn a scholarship for your college team!

Open to college and university groups and students, The Region-I College Cup Challenge will provide a $1,000 scholarship to the team that raises the most funds for their team and a $500 scholarship to the 2nd place team in fundraising! Teams are invited to plunge at any one of the four Region-I plunge sites.
