Sangamon Co Sheriff Reveals Changes To Hiring Practices
(Sangamon Co., IL) — Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch is revealing changes to the department’s hiring practices. The department is altering the way they hire in order to prevent the hiring of the former sheriff’s deputy charged in the killing of Sonya Massey in Springfield this summer. Speaking to the Massey Commission on Monday, Crouch said a newly created background investigation manual could help improve the process. Other changes include a sheriff’s merit commission and a mandate that investigators review records in person if an applicant worked at another law enforcement agency.
