Congressman Chuy’s Office Apologizes For Tweet
Illinois Democratic Congressman Chuy Garcia’s office is apologizing for language used in a tweet posted to the Congressman’s social media page on Saturday. The 4th District Congressman had sent out a message talking about his vote in favor of an assault weapons ban and that message earned a reply from a Twitter user who said they didn’t know who the congressman was and that they wouldn’t comply with the law if it passes. In a reply from the congressman’s account, the Twitter user was referred to with an expletive and a word usually found offensive by the mentally disabled. Congressman Garcia’s office later released a statement saying the tweet sent on his behalf by a staffer was unauthorized and inappropriate and that the person responsible will be held accountable.
