A former Illinois State Police officer is facing sentencing after pleading guilty to reckless conduct in a woman’s death. Jeffrey Denning entered the plea yesterday. Denning drove 70 miles over the speed limit in 2016 while responding to a call and hit Kelly Wilson, killing her. His squad car’s lights and sirens were not on when the crash happened as he was headed to the scene of an officer’s shooting. Denning faces a maximum of nearly a year in jail, as well as a possible 25-hundred- dollar fine. Charges of reckless homicide were dismissed. He will be sentenced in March.
