2025 Community Service Block Grant Scholarship
Empowerment Opportunity Center will be awarding the Community Service Block Grant Scholarship to 3 Macon County residents for the 2025-2026 school year. Each scholarship is up to $1,000.00. To be eligible for a Community Service Block Grant scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
Be a resident of Macon County
· Be at or below 200% of the 2025 Federal Poverty Guidelines
· Be enrolled in or applying to an Illinois post-secondary educational/vocational school, post-secondary educational/vocational college, or vocational institute, but have NOT already completed a bachelor’s degree.
· Be a full-time student.
· Must have a 2.5 GPA out of 4.0.
Application Packets can be picked up at the Empowerment Opportunity Center, 360 E. Marietta St Decatur, Monday- Friday between 9:00 a.m. – 4:00p.m.
Past recipients are eligible to reapply for a maximum of 4 years. Scholarships are distributed only once annually. Resources are limited and all applicants will be screened according to need and past academic achievement. The scholarships awarded will assist with educational costs but will not provide for the entire amount needed. All decisions made by the agency’s board are final.
The Scholarship is provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, through the Community Services Block Grant.
