Trial Date Set For Man Charged In Deadly Wrong Way I-55 Crash
(Sangamon Co., IL) — A trial date is set for a central Illinois man charged in a 2022 wrong-way crash in Sangamon County that left a Chicago area woman dead. Prosecutors say Shane Woods made a drunken suicide attempt on I-55 in Sangamon County on November 8th, 2022. However, he collided with a vehicle, killing Lauren Wegner of Skokie. His trial date is scheduled to begin April 28th. Woods was previously sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to taking part in the U.S. Capitol riot in 2021.
