Biden Commutes Sentence of Crundwell, Bloom
(Dixon, IL) — President Joe Biden is commuting the sentences of two fraudsters in Illinois. Former Dixon Comptroller Rita Crundwell and Eric Bloom both received commutation from the President. Crundwell was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison in 2013 for stealing nearly 54 million dollars from Dixon over two decades. She was released to a halfway house in 2021 after serving about eight years behind bars. Bloom is the onetime leader of a Northbrook management firm that defrauded investors of more than 665 million dollars. Prosecutors called it the largest financial fraud case ever prosecuted in Chicago’s federal court. Bloom was sentenced in 2015 to 14 years in prison.
