The governor of Virginia announced Wednesday that a pair of professional sports teams are moving to the state. Glenn Youngkin said the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards are leaving the District of Columbia for a new two-billion-dollar “world-class” entertainment complex that will be built in Alexandria. The project will be funded under a public-private partnership, and is set to break ground in 2025 and will open in late 2028. It will include a new corporate headquarters for Monumental Sports and Entertainment and an industry-leading arena that will become the new home of the Capitals and Wizards.
