NWS Confirms Five Tornadoes Touched Down In Central Illinois On Thursday
(Chatham, IL) — The National Weather Service is confirming five tornadoes that touched down in central Illinois on Thursday. An EF2 twister in Chatham was the strongest-hitting peak winds of 120 miles per hour. EF1 tornadoes were reported north of Taylorville, Lincoln, Kincaid/Spartanburg, and Waynesville/Wapella. Those tornadoes hit max winds of 100 miles per hour. All five twisters left damage in their wake.
