Legendary Free, Bad Company, and Firm frontman Paul Rodgers will release Midnight Rose, his first all original solo album since 1999 on September 22nd via Sun Records. Classic Rock reported the new set was co-produced by Bob Rock and Rodgers' wife, Cynthia Rodgers, who also supplied the artwork for the new collection.
Paul Rodgers said of the collection, “My new album Midnight Rose grew from sparks of ideas I had. The sparks developed into a raging fire when the band and everyone involved brought their absolute A game. I think it is my best album to date, I like it. I hope you do too.”
Last time we caught up with Paul Rodgers, he told us that the guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd were actually responsible for another kind of career highlight — introducing him to his current wife Cynthia — a fitness guru and both a former Miss Canada and Miss Universe: “About 15 years ago I was touring with them as a solo artist, and they kept saying, 'Wait 'til we get to Vancouver, we're gonna introduce ya to Cynthia.' And I kept saying, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah,' and they were, 'No, no, really' — I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah, sure.' And so they did, and well, y'know, the rest is history. We got on like a house on fire. They had a feeling that we would just get along great. And yeah, it worked out, it's fantastic.”
