Officers Involved In Deadly Shootout In Decatur Cleared Of Wrongdoing
The police officers involved in a deadly shootout last month in Decatur are being cleared of wrongdoing. Sergeant Timothy Wittmer and Officer Austin Bowman were shot while exchanging gunfire with Jamontey Neal during a traffic stop on October 12th. Neal died, while Wittmer and Bowman were treated and released from the hospital. Decatur Police Chief Shane Brandel released a statement saying in conjunction with the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office, all three officers involved were legally justified in their use of deadly force.
