Millikin University and the Macon County Health Department will be sponsoring three on-campus vaccination clinics in August beginning on Monday, Aug. 9, followed by Tuesday, Aug. 17, and Thursday, Aug. 26. The clinics will be held in the Oberhelman Center for Leadership Performance in the 1st floor lobby area of the University Commons on Millikin’s campus. The clinics are open to the public and will offer both Pfizer (Injection No.1) and Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccinations.
On Monday, Aug. 9, anyone interested can receive a first dose Pfizer vaccination from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Individuals will automatically be scheduled for their second dose on Aug. 30. Pre-registration is not required but is preferred.
On Tuesday, Aug. 17, and Thursday, Aug. 26, anyone interested can receive a Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccination on these dates from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Pre-registration is not required but is preferred.
The clinics will be by appointment only. The online signup will include a required consent form and additional information. Participants are asked to complete the consent form in advance of their appointment. Consent forms will also be available at the clinics.
The vaccination clinics will also serve as a Performance Learning opportunity for Millikin School of Nursing students as they will have the opportunity to administer COVID-19 vaccines as part of their clinical experiences.
“Millikin University is proud to partner with the Macon County Health Department to offer on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinics to our community,” said Raphaella Prange, vice president for Student Affairs at Millikin. “Our School of Nursing has been pivotal in maintaining a strong relationship with our community health partners, and we are beyond thrilled that our students in the School of Nursing will be an integral part of these clinics. The vaccination clinics will be a meaningful example of Millikin’s hallmark of Performance Learning, providing continued on-the-ground, real experience during the pandemic for our students interested in community and public health careers.”
