The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), Decatur Illinois workNet Center, Richland Community College, United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois, and Economic Development Corporation of Decatur-Macon County will sponsor an informational workshop on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM CST via Zoom.
The free online workshop will provide guidance and direction on how to continue receiving current unemployment benefits while enrolling in local training programs or going back to school to learn a new trade or career. Other topics discussed will include items like how to find good-paying, local jobs, how to transfer existing skills to other jobs and careers and how to locate community assistance during difficult times.
“Our local workforce is key to repairing and growing our economy,” says Nicole Bateman, president of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur-Macon County. “Opportunities exist for individuals to learn a new skillset to prepare for employment this fall and partnering organizations will address services that can assist with overcoming common barriers.”
