A Decatur and Macon County native and longtime figure in local law enforcement has announced his candidacy for the Decatur City Council. At a Wednesday Press Conference, Director of Training for the Macon County Lawn Enforcement Training Center Ed Culp, said Decatur needs to move forward in spite of the current pandemic, and wishes to serve the community by serving on the Council. Culp is the former Chief Deputy for the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and the Chief of Police of the Decatur Park Police. He has served as a former board member for the Salvation Army and the Emergency Telephone Safety Board. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Culp Wednesday also stressed the importance of Lake Decatur to the community and is urging further development along the lake to further the City’s opportunity to become a recreation destination.
