The remains of a World War Two veteran are back in Illinois 76 years after his death. A procession accompanied the remains of Sergeant George Raymond “Bud” Reeser from St. Louis Airport yesterday to Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, passing through East Peoria. Reeser served in the United States Marine Corps and was killed in action on November 22nd, 1943 during the battle of Betio Island, Tarawa Atoll, and the Gilbert Islands. He was 25. A graveside service followed by reinterment with full military honor took place Saturday morning at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Deer Creek.
