The Community Foundation of Macon County is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. And while many of the events they had planned to celebrate the milestone have been put off due to the pandemic, one special project moved forward. At a press conference Thursday afternoon, the Foundation presented the gift of two sets of mural wings to the city. The mural of the wings was painted by International Muralist Kelsey Montague, who most notably painted what is known as the “Taylor Swift Wings” in Nashville. The mural is only the 3rd set of Montague’s work in the state of Illinois. Pictures taken with the wings around the country are usually shared on social media with the hashtag “What Lifts You” and according to Natalie Beck, President of the Community Foundation of the Macon County, the artwork is a perfect match for the mission of the Foundation and they are thrilled to make it as their gift to the community.
