Decatur Public Transit is preparing to roll out 14 new buses.
This comes as the old buses were nearing or past their recommended road life of 15 years or 500,000 miles. The old buses were in commission, on average, for 17 years and all but one bus had 700,000 miles.
Decatur has 15 fixed bus routes that give an average of 1,000,000 rides per year.
One of the older buses will go to Richland Community College where it will be used for CDL classes.
