(Cordova, IL) — Managers at Exelon’s Quad Cities power plant say they’re prepared for a flood. The question about plant safety came up this week after the explosion at a Houston chemical plant ravaged by flooding. Exelon site vice president Ken Ohr said the plant in Cordova is designed to withstand a 500 year flood and a six-point-eight magnitude earthquake. Ohr said Exelon improved some safety features after a tsunami destroyed much of the nuclear power plant in Fukushima Japan.
