(Charleston, IL) -- State Rep Brad Halbrook will not be seeking a return to Springfield in 2014. The Republican from Charleston says his time in the House is done as he wants to spend more time with his family, including his 78-year-old dad. Halbrook says family is more important but admits there likely plenty more politics left in his future. The announcement comes on the heels of Coles County Sheriff Darrell Cox declaring his candidacy for Halbrook’s seat. However, Halbrook says that news didn’t affect his decision in any way. Halbrook was appointed to fill a vacant seat in April, 2012 and won the full term in the General Election that November.
