(Mattoon, IL) -- It looks like Mattoon will have to reduce its FY-14 budget by nearly 200-thousand-bucks. Officials say more than 300-thousand-dollars in expenses have already been cut but a few more changes appear to be necessary if the city wants to balance its budget before a May deadline. City administrator Kyle Gill says the state owes Mattoon over 300-grand and uncertainties about the status of that funding and the additional costs associated with Obamacare are putting the city in a lurch. Gill plans to work with department heads in the coming weeks to even out Mattoon's balance sheet.
