(Lincoln, IL) -- The first-ever person to occupy the city of Lincoln’s new position of city administrator left a similar post in Mattoon under questionable circumstances. Sue McLaughlin has a temporary contract with an option for a six-month extension. The Mattoon City Council terminated their deal with McLaughlin after questions arose about a proposed below-market sale of city property to her fiancee. Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder says he knows about what happened and spoke at length about it with McLaughlin before deciding to place her on staff.
