(Springfield, IL) -- Every public school in Illinois will now be required to have sexual assault and abuse awareness programs in place. Governor Quinn signed Erin’s Law Thursday, expanding age-appropriate sex abuse education to include every grade level, including pre-K. State Senator Kyle McCarter co-sponsored the bill. He says it was easy to see the need after working with troubled youngsters. McCarter says he’s looking for a follow-up measure in the spring session that would give schools financial and scheduling flexibility to implement the new mandate.
