(Springfield, IL) -- State lawmakers next week are slated to consider voting on a bill that would legalize gay marriage in Illinois. Opponents of the measure are pointing out some of the mandates laid out within the legislation that would force businesses and religious groups to accommodate gay marriage ceremonies, even if they’re against the idea. Bed and breakfasts, halls and churches could be forced to hold gay wedding ceremonies and photographers, DJ’s and caterers would be required to service gay ceremonies or face penalties levied by the state. A trolley company in Maryland recently announced that it would no longer conduct wedding ceremonies because of a similar law recently enacted in that state.
