(Decatur, IL) -- The Decatur Adult Transitional Center is slowly being broken down. The last 45 inmates moved out over Christmas weekend after Governor Quinn’s order to shutter that facility and several others around the state was finally upheld by a court ruling. Twenty-nine work release inmates were transferred to Peoria while the other 16 were sent to the Sheridan Correctional Center. Those inmates will eventually wind up at the Crossroads Adult Transitional Center in Chicago. Staff members who worked at the transitional center are all being offered other positions within the Department of Corrections. Ten will move to the women’s facility on Mound Road.
